Top 5 Simple Play Accounts to Follow on Instagram

It can be intimidating when you scroll through so many play based learning photos on Instagram. What on earth is oobleck, and how do I make sure we aren't swimming in it by the end of our play session? We've tried to take the stress out of the picture by rounding up our favorite 5 Simple Play Accounts on Instagram. These are Moms who post daily activities involving only a few everyday materials. No artistic flare or creative play degree needed, just a willingness to give the activities a try with your littles.

1. @busytoddler

It comes as no surprise to see the ever-awesome Susie of Busy Toddler fame on our list. She is the queen of consistently simple, yet always engaging play activities for her three kids. She is also a very 'real' Mom who will keep you feeling inspired and loved all at the same time. You can look at any one of her pictures on her feed and think 'I can do that', which is so important to help get you started with creative play. So what are you waiting for, go give her a follow and test out some of her ideas!

2. @littleoneslearn

Molly is one of our absolute favorites as she always includes color and creativity in her activities. There are plenty of arts and crafts, but they are 100% child-made and process orientated. She is also great at showing parents how to introduce basic numeracy and literacy skills at an early age, all the time focusing on fun and play. Another thing worth, mentioning is that Molly also makes the best printable activity packs! Our toddlers are obsessed!

3. @happytoddlerplaytime

Get your dot stickers and dot markers at the ready because Mandisa from @happytoddlerplaytime has the best dot ideas! Her activities are always achievable and easy to prepare, mostly requiring only a few everyday materials. She has some great ideas for sensory bins, and also shares top tips for ways to get babies safely involved in sensory play.

4. @dayswithgrey

Have you heard the phrase 'breakfast invitation' before? Setting out simple invitations to explore at breakfast time has been Beth's passion project for her three boys. She uses simple supplies and manipulatives which encourage fine motor skill development, early numeracy and literacy skills, color sorting and the list goes on.

5. @everydayplayhacks

This account focuses on simple and inspiring educational play, using everyday materials. It is run by two lovely ladies- Sian from @teach.investigate.play and Heidi from @the_tree_house_harmony, both accounts are also definitely worth a follow. The reason we enjoy following along with this account is because the posts are so varied and inspiring. Think kitchen utensils, bottle caps, toilet paper rolls and post-it notes! Simple materials used by loads of creative parents and shared in one easy place. Such a winner!
