Play House Rainbow Building Brick Wall
Looking to add a new learning dimension to your outdoor play house? Why not attach some of our Peel 'n Stick Baseplates to create a super inviting rainbow building brick wall? No Glue Required!
Let's kick off with a video showing you how to make the project and just how much fun your kids will have playing with it!
- Creative QT Peel 'n Stick Baseplates- we went for a stunning rainbow wall which used one red, yellow, blue, green, pink and purple baseplate, see the full collection here
- Outdoor play house, we used our well loved Little Tikes house
- Sharp craft or utility knife (we used this one)
- Craft mat or chopping board
- Selection of building bricks- we used LEGOs, but DUPLOs and Mega Bloks will also work
- Storage container- we used a craft caddy, we definitely recommend one with a sealable lid so that the bricks can be safely stored in the house
There are so many different areas of the house that you can stick the baseplates on. You may prefer to make a larger building area inside with entire baseplates. We opted for a bright and beautiful rainbow effect around the front window so that our kids could be playing in the house and creating outside of it without getting in each other's way (and stepping on LEGOs!).
Before you start make sure you give the play house surface where you will stick the baseplates a good wipe down and thorough dry. Measure the area that you would like to cover in baseplates. Then measure and cut the baseplates to the correct size. Be sure to cut against a line of bricks.
If you have any rough edges exposed, you can use sand paper or a nail file to smoothen them off. All that's left to do is Peel, Stick, Play! You literally just peel off the baseplate backing and fix it to the play house surface. Add some pressure all over the baseplate as you attach it to ensure all of the adhesive contacts the house surface.
Your kids will love the novelty of building on their play house, as well as the visual appeal of the bright rainbow colors.
You can choose whether you want to present them with a blank building canvas, or you can add a play prompt for them to further develop. We use a convenient craft caddy to store the bricks in as it keeps them organized and safely stored overnight, ready for play the next day.
A huge advantage of this set up is that it encourages vertical building which is great for fine motor and gross motor development. The small baseplate panels also offer a slightly more challenging building space for older kids.
And don't forget that with the construction strength adhesive used on our baseplates, you don't have to worry about the baseplates coming off while being left outside over the summer.
